Crown Toasts and Tributes

We craft creative and meaningful toasts, tributes, speeches, and eulogies.

We craft creative and meaningful toasts, tributes, speeches, and eulogies.

Life can be so good! Wanting to mark special occasions and rites of passage with meaningful words is part of what makes us human. Wedding vows and toasts, graduation and retirement speeches, and tributes written to welcome a new baby or to honor a milestone birthday are a few examples.

Life is also hard. The difficult times need thoughtful words too–words that heal and connect us, words that can offer comfort or help us reorient ourselves in times of grief. When we lose someone dear to us, we need the right words to honor them and to celebrate their lives and the legacies they’ve left behind.

Wedding Vows

The best wedding vows are unique to the couple being married. Weddings require a lot of expense and effort, and at the end of the day, your vows are one of the only things you bring home with you. My goal is to help you craft vows that you’ll want to frame and hang inside your home as a reminder of your commitment to each other for years to come.

Eulogies

My mission is to make the clients I work with feel supported and heard as they navigate what might be the most difficult week of their lives. My clients already have the memories, the love, and the big ideas they need to give their loved one a eulogy that honors them – it’s my job to take those things and package them inside a eulogy. I believe that managing grief is a huge task, and that grieving people deserve help and support, especially when it comes to being the public face of a funeral.

Toasts

I’ll work with you to create a warm, uplifting, personal toast that is enjoyable to deliver and that will honor your loved one on their important day. Together we’ll avoid common mistakes of toast making and practice delivering your toast with confidence. I love working with Maids of Honor, Best Men, and parents of brides and grooms. I also work with couples to craft a dinner toast to thank their guests and families.

Speeches

A wide variety of occasions call for speeches. Are you retiring from a long-held position? Accepting an award? Have you been invited to speak to a group of young people, or to peers in your field? Together we will write a speech that entertains, instructs, and leaves an impression on your listeners. Your speech will sound like you at your most polished, and after a coaching session, you’ll be confident enough to enjoy your event. Price varies depending on length. Please contact me for more information.

“Often when I write I am trying to make words do the work of line and color. I have the painter’s sensitivity to light. Much of my writing is verbal painting.”

Testimonials

I was so nervous to give the toast at my sister’s wedding. Gretchen helped me write something that made my sister happy and also coached me through my nerves. I actually had fun delivering it – something I didn’t think was possible. I’m so glad I found her help.

When my dad died, I had a really hard time and just couldn’t concentrate on writing a eulogy that would do him justice. Gretchen was sensitive to my needs, and able to write the best eulogy. It gave my family and I a chance to remember my dad in the best way, and I’m grateful.
