Partners often feel anxiety when crafting their own vows. They wonder how their partner is approaching the task. Am I taking this too seriously? Am I going on too long? Are we even approaching this with the same goal in mind? One solution would be to share vows ahead of time, but this takes away from the experience of hearing them when you’re at the altar.

With this in mind, I begin by meeting with the couple together, before meeting separately with each partner. This ensures that the length and tone are similar, creating a natural and seamless transition between you, while leaving the contents a surprise.

What is included in the Vows package?

• A 60-75 minute interview with the couple. During this interview, I will learn about your love story, your goals for the future, and the tone you’re looking to strike at your ceremony – warm? Fun? Formal? We’ll talk about length of the vows, and what, in general you expect your vows to encompass.
• A 60-75 minute interview with each partner individually. This will give me a chance to learn about your personalities as individuals, and to learn what you’re hoping to communicate.
• I will craft both sets of vows and send them to each partner for review.
• We’ll meet again one-on-one to discuss any revisions. This will also be your chance for me to serve as a go-between and ask questions or request clarification without seeing each other’s vows.
• We meet one final time one-on-one to discuss strategies for dealing with nerves, and to practice your delivery, so that when you stand up to make your vows, you will feel prepared, confident, and focused on your partner.

Our meetings will be recorded so that I can review them while I’m writing. Most people are busy preparing for the big day, and I prefer not to contact you for clarification unless completely necessary. Having a recording to review helps me immensely! As soon as you sign off on the vows, the recordings are deleted.

Am I the right fit?

The vows I’ll help you write will be heartfelt, warm, specific, and filled with details that show each other and your loved ones the specific commitment you’re making to each other. The vows I work on are usually for couples who are looking to deliver something secular and focused on their relationship (though of course a person’s faith and religious life can be a big part of that.)
